Avoca, PA - Allegiant (NASDAQ: ALGT) wants Pennsylvania travelers to stop paying outrageous airfares and Dodge High Fares! The company, known for its exceptional travel deals and ultra-low fares, is kicking off the Dodge High Fares campaign, providing great deals to top vacation destinations, hosting a dodgeball tournament in Scranton and giving away a free round trip ticket each week through August at dodgehighfares.com.

“Allegiant consistently goes into new markets and accomplishes two things: we bring down the cost of vacation travel while simultaneously increasing the number of leisure travelers flying,” said Rich Winiarski, Allegiant Travel Company Vice President of Marketing. “We make more vacations possible by making travel more affordable in the communities we serve. It’s something we’re really proud of, and this new campaign will help us tell that story.”

Since Allegiant first arrived in Wilkes-Barre / Scranton a year ago with nonstop service to Orlando-Sanford International Airport, the number of travelers to Orlando has increased while average fares have dropped. When comparing the four quarters leading up to Allegiant’s first flight and the most recent four quarters of data provided by the Department of Transportation, the number of total passengers traveling from Wilkes-Barre / Scranton International Airport to Orlando  increased 37 percent, and the average airfare dropped by over 12 percent.

To make an even bigger splash in Wilkes-Barre / Scranton, Allegiant is partnering with The National Dodgeball League and Wilkes-Barre / Scranton International Airport to host a “Dodge High Fares” dodgeball tournament at Riverfront Sports Complex in Scranton on Saturday, Aug. 24, beginning at 11 a.m. For more information, and to register a team, participants just need to visit dodgehighfares.com or flyavp.com/dodgeball.html. As always, Northeastern Pennsylvania travelers can Dodge High Fares right now at Allegiant.com.

"Allegiant has served Northeastern Pennsylvania passengers with nonstop service to the Orlando / Daytona Beach area for a year now," said Barry Centini, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport Director. "Orlando is one of our top destinations, and we are excited that Allegiant continues to provide our area’s families and businesses with low-cost, nonstop service to Orlando.  Allegiant has also been very active in our region with various community events, and we encourage everyone to register for our dodgeball tournament on Saturday, August 24th."

The Dodge High Fares campaign will include television, radio and print elements, 30 dodgeball tournaments in cities throughout Allegiant’s network, and online prize giveaways. The ads initially ran for two weeks in select markets and will be followed by the series of dodgeball tournaments. In addition, Allegiant is asking residents to tell them what they would dodge with a free vacation. Whether it be work, bills, chores or something else, the company is giving away a free round trip ticket per week in the ultimate dodge of high fares sweepstakes at dodgehighfares.com. Allegiant released the ads on Facebook and Twitter and they have received positive comments from the airline's fans and followers.
