US AIRWAYS ADDS ADDITIONAL CHARLOTTE SERVICE FROM AVP

Avoca, PA - Travelers using the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport will soon have additional options for air travel.  US Airways has scheduled a 2nd daily flight to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Beginning March 3, 2011, US Airways will add a 1:41 PM departure arriving at Charlotte at 3:40 PM. Also, the new flight will leave Charlotte at 11:25 AM and arrive at AVP at 1:06 PM.

The additional flight brings US Airways total daily departures to eight: six to Philadelphia and two to Charlotte.

Prior to the 2nd daily flight starting in March 2011: effective January 4, 2011, US Airways will add a 3:34 PM departure on Mondays and Tuesdays, arriving in Charlotte at 5:30 PM. Effective January 8, 2011, there will be Saturday 4:50 PM departure arriving in Charlotte at 6:48 PM.  Effective January 11, 2011, the 8:33 AM departure (Tuesdays only) will be upgraded from a 70-seat aircraft to an 86-seat aircraft.

"We have been asking US Airways for additional Charlotte service for quite some time, so we are pleased to see them adding more seats and service in our market", stated Barry Centini, Airport Director.  "This is good news for both business and leisure travelers in Northeastern Pennsylvania."
