| American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 |

On February 17, 2009, President Obama signed Public Law 111-5. The
legislation, referred to as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
(ARRA)
of 2009, provided the Department of Transportation $48.1 billion for infrastructure development. Of this
amount, $1.1 billion is provided to the FAA from the General Fund for
airport-related purposes. While the funding is not subject to
normal AIP authorization, the funding is to be administered
under the requirements of Airport Improvement Program (AIP)
discretionary funding. For full details about ARRA, please visit

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport Project funded by ARRA as certified by AVP Director is: Airfield Signing & Lighting Upgrade - $490,278.34 This Project includes the following: The existing wiring for the Runway/Taxiway Edge Lights were installed prior to 1970. The existing signage was placed within the AOA in 1985 and updated in 1991. Anticipated construction schedule - from May 2009 until August 2009. |
